Formatting
I'd love to be able to format the size of rows/columns in the schedule to more accurately reflect the length of class periods.
7 votesI am happy to report that you can resize periods based on duration. By default, all periods appear to have the same size in the view regardless of their actual duration. Choose ‘Owl > Help > Options’, expand ‘Advanced options’ and check ‘Resize periods based on duration’ if you want to change this behavior, e.g. you want to see a 15-minute period proportionally smaller compared to a 45-minute period. The same option is available when publishing timetable to the web, so you can fully control how the timetable will be displayed to others. Thank you all, for adding suggestion for improvement and voting for it!
Best regards,

Generate dates or allow to import them
Currently you can add days one by one using buttons. That's ok if you havve a weekly timetable, but if you have a monthly timetable entering 31 days is a nightmare. It would be nice if we could specify a month and a year and have dates automatically generated or at least have import function working as for lessons or teachers, so that we can create the list of day with another program and use cut & paste to import it.
13 votesYou can now import new days or merge/overwrite existing day names and short names.
In order to import days choose ‘Owl > Import > Days’. Imported days will be inserted at the last selected position.
In order to overwrite the existing day names and short names with imported ones:
- Select the day you want to start merging with
- Choose ‘Owl > Import > Days’
- Confirm merging when asked -
Sort sidebar items in views
The sidebar on the left side of views (i.e. the one containing teachers, lessons, classes, rooms, and so forth, depending on view) is not sortable. Allow users to sort its content, please.
3 votesThis is already done. Please take a look at user guide: http://www.primetimetable.com/help/#sort
When sorting in the grids you need to click the lock icon in the bottom right of the grid to make a sort permanent. -
Allow to create custom palettes for colors.
32 colors could be enough, even if I would prefer to have a color wheel to select any color I want (eg. #a4ff60), but the default one are not the one we already use in school. It would be nice to have the possibility to specify color palettes and name them.
6 votesYou can now choose any color you want with newly added color wheel. Custom selected color will be added to existing palette of 32 colors in a separate row so you can easily pick the same color again.

Thank you very much for your feedback! Here is how to easily substitute teacher or any other resource:
1) Select multiple cards
2) Right mouse click any of selected cards and choose Edit cards
3) Change subject, teacher(s), class(es)/group(s), length, desired or alternative rooms and click EditYou can keep current selection and add additional resources to all selected cards with “More…” button, e.g. add additional teacher, class/group, etc.
More about editing cards in the user guide: http://www.primetimetable.com/help/#edit-cards
If you want stats for substitute teacher please create another idea.

Assign a room to a Teacher, then automatically assign that room to a lesson with the teacher.
Assign a room to a Teacher, then automatically assign that room to a lesson with the teacher. Our teachers are usually assigned to a room, and all their lessons are scheduled in that room. It would be easier to just give a teacher a room than have to enter room for every lesson.
1 voteThank you very much for your idea for improvement! We might have a much better alternative for this feature. Here is how to do it:
1) Switch to teacher master view and select multiple cards or select all teacher cards by clicking teacher name while holding Ctrl/Cmd key
2) Right mouse click any of selected cards and choose Edit cards
3) Change subject, teacher(s), class(es)/group(s), length, desired or alternative rooms and click EditThis way, it’s actually a lot more powerful then just changing desired/alternative rooms as you can change any other parameter as well, substitute teacher(s) or class(es)/group(s), or you can keep current selection and add additional resources to all selected cards with “More…” button, e.g. add additional teacher, class/group, etc.
