  1. When zooming in the master view you easily get lost when moving across the pane becasue you cannot see the first column as you move. You should immitate the freezing panes feature MS Excel has.

  2. Enable each card to have room for free text, just a couple of words or numbers. This means it would be more customisable for all schools

Thank you for sharing your idea on improving Prime Timetable. I am happy to inform you that from now on you can set any custom text in the card. In order to add custom text:

    - Right mouse click selected card(s) and choose Customize
    - Choose ‘Set custom text’ option to enter custom text to the selected card(s) that will be displayed in individual views and custom short text that will be displayed in master views.

Click “Use default” button if you changed your mind and want to remove custom text and use default instead.

Note that you can multi-select more cards and apply custom text to more cards at once. Also, you can use html tags inside any textual fields in Prime Timetable. In that way you can freely change any text but also the style of the text, e.g. make text bolder, change font-size or color, etc.

  3. Currently you can add days one by one using buttons. That's ok if you havve a weekly timetable, but if you have a monthly timetable entering 31 days is a nightmare. It would be nice if we could specify a month and a year and have dates automatically generated or at least have import function working as for lessons or teachers, so that we can create the list of day with another program and use cut & paste to import it.

You can now import new days or merge/overwrite existing day names and short names.

In order to import days choose ‘Owl > Import > Days’. Imported days will be inserted at the last selected position.

In order to overwrite the existing day names and short names with imported ones:

    - Select the day you want to start merging with
    - Choose ‘Owl > Import > Days’
    - Confirm merging when asked

Done. Thank you very much for your feedback! Here is how to do it:

    1) Select multiple cards
    2) Right mouse click any of selected cards and choose Edit cards
    3) Change subject, teacher(s), class(es)/group(s), length, desired or alternative rooms and click Edit

We want to avoid the possibility of dragging cards from one resource to another because of possible mistake. This way, it’s actually a lot more powerful as you can change any other parameter as well, substitute teacher(s) or class(es)/group(s), or you can keep current selection and add additional resources to all selected cards with “More…” button, e.g. add additional teacher, class/group, etc.

More about editing cards in the user guide: http://www.primetimetable.com/help/#edit-cards

  5. I have one lesson that is one 5th grade class, music teacher, music room
I have another lesson that is a different 5th grade class, art teacher, art room

I need both those lessons to happen at the same time so that 5th grade homeroom teachers can meet while their kids are with specialists. The other tool I have used had a way of linking the two lessons, so I could drag the music class into a time slot, and it would automatically place the linked lesson into the same time slot, indicating any conflicts for the art teacher &…

I am happy to report that cards can be clipped as of today in the web app as in this example: http://www.primetimetable.com/#app%26id%3Dbaf16d0a-7c71-43cc-81ef-dd161beca05b (German and French groups are clipped and scheduled/dragged together). Clipped cards have a little clip icon in the top left corner and will be scheduled/selected/dragged/removed all together.
More in this help page: http://www.primetimetable.com/help/#clip
Also, now you can select multiple cards/days/periods, merge/split conflicted cards, copy cards and more…
I want to thank you everyone for great feedback and for voting for this very useful feature. Hope you will enjoy using it!

  7. It would be very useful to see the timetable data in spreadsheet form, instead of block view. i.e. view all timetable data together in one spreadsheet for an overall view, to be able to filter timetable data in a spreadsheet to check that everything is correct would be a great help!

Choose ‘Owl > Save as > Custom File’ and then select the format that suits you. Currently, we support PowerSchool, iSAMS, SmartSchool and Siged format. You will get a tab or comma separated values file which you can copy/paste into spreadsheet app for further inspection.

In order to manage students choose ‘Owl > Manage > Classes’, select a class on the list and click Students button on the right.

By adding activities for groups, students belonging to these groups will be assigned to these activities as well. Individual class view can be filtered by specific student and the browser’s url is updated accordingly, so each student will get an url for their own published timetable. For instance, here is a direct link for Donna Gordon (Grade 6A) from United States International Example: https://primetimetable.com/publish/?id=b81543c8-b64c-4411-97b1-c6794d176139&classId=327625ca-4267-4a74-ae56-6c571242385a&studentId=227192b1-b7c3-4a58-9a48-cb24b98ae57e#id%3Db81543c8-b64c-4411-97b1-c6794d176139

You can download links for each individual student while publishing the timetable so you can share links more easily: https://primetimetable.com/help/#publish

Statistics is available for each student: https://primetimetable.com/help/#statistics

Students can be imported by following instruction provided in this spreadsheet document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-IHCoPn3tfuWggCuOLJhLWsDAmthxhW57MEr_a_7M4w/edit#gid=1966706635

I am happy to report that you can resize periods based on duration. By default, all periods appear to have the same size in the view regardless of their actual duration. Choose ‘Owl > Help > Options’, expand ‘Advanced options’ and check ‘Resize periods based on duration’ if you want to change this behavior, e.g. you want to see a 15-minute period proportionally smaller compared to a 45-minute period. The same option is available when publishing timetable to the web, so you can fully control how the timetable will be displayed to others. Thank you all, for adding suggestion for improvement and voting for it!

Choose ‘Owl > Manage > Periods’ to manage periods and their intervals. You can set any duration for a period and in that way you can add periods with 15-minute duration. It might be useful to pick the red marker and forbid the ‘gap period’ so it’s not counted as pause and the generator won’t automatically scheduled cards there. Additionally, choose ‘Owl > Help > Options’, expand ‘Advanced options’ and check ‘Resize periods based on duration’ if you want to show columns more realistically, e.g. you want to see a 15-minute period proportionally smaller compared to a 45-minute period. The same option is available when publishing timetable to the web, so you can fully control how the timetable will be displayed to others.

Using card designer you can add group name or group short name into card in single or entire class view. Group name or short name will only show up in complex cards. Published web page will also follow.

  17. or at least have an export that we can import into PowerSchool that follows their template.
We can assist if you have questions or want to see the master schedule import template.

  18. 32 colors could be enough, even if I would prefer to have a color wheel to select any color I want (eg. #a4ff60), but the default one are not the one we already use in school. It would be nice to have the possibility to specify color palettes and name them.

You can now choose any color you want with newly added color wheel. Custom selected color will be added to existing palette of 32 colors in a separate row so you can easily pick the same color again.

The new “Open in Prime Timetable” link is added in upper right corner of published web page which will let any viewer to view existing timetable in Prime Timetable for better viewing and printing experience. Of course, for such user saving changes is disabled.
